The Ministry of Agriculture revealed today, Friday projects to confront desertification and increase green spaces within the investment plan projects.
The Administrative Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mahdi Sahar al-Jubouri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ministry of Agriculture continues to implement projects to confront desertification and stabilize sand dunes, including the Hammad Basin Project through the Department of Agricultural Protection.”
He added, "The Ministry also has projects to increase green spaces, develop and improve forests, and plant eucalyptus trees within the projects of the Ministry's investment plan."
Regarding the reasons for the cessation of some projects previously, Al-Jubouri explained, “The lack of financial allocations in the past led to the cessation of some projects, and we are awaiting the financial allocations to complete them, including the agricultural oasis project.”
Al-Jubouri continued, “There is a desire by the Ministry of Agriculture to expand agricultural areas due to their importance in the vegetation and environmental cover in Iraq.”
