Environment Minister: Government Programmed cares on Environmental Profile and Water Conservation

    The Environment Minister said ,on Friday ,that the government's programmed was concerned with the environmental profile and water conservation, calling on all sectoral organizations, civil society organizations and international organizations to preserve natural systems, especially the South Marshlands.

    Amidi  said in a statement to the Ministry received by the Iraqi news agency (INA ) "Very important to invest in World Day to highlight the realities of Iraq's natural systems, biodiversity and water while highlighting the most important problems on side, and the response of the Iraqi Government represented by the Ministry of Environment on the other ", stressing that  “The protection of the environment is a solidarity duty encompassing of Iraqi State and society and the need to highlight the plans and directions of the Ministry of the Environment in protection based on national laws and regulations, as well as international conventions and the attention of the current Government's programme in this important file."

    He called on "other sectoral actors, civil society organizations and international organizations to participate in this important event", stating that "on February 2 every year, the world celebrates World Wetlands Day (WWD) with the aim of raising awareness of the great importance of wetlands to human life and vital functions for the planet".

    He added "This World Day is also an occasion to commemorate the signing of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in Ramsar the Iranian city in 1971."

    "Wetlands are a very comprehensive and important term, especially in Iraq's current environmental conditions resulting from water scarcity, climate change, natural systems and biodiversity. wetlands and other natural systems are therefore considered to be in the first line of defense to maintain the stability of the planet's climate, Their protection, sustainability and preservation are therefore important and imperative and must be at the forefront of government plans and development projects "he added.
