Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the interior minister, arrived in Kirkuk province on Thursday.
The Iraqi News Agency (INA) was provided with a ministry statement which states that "Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari arrived today in Kirkuk province and met with its governor."
"Al-Shammari will conduct a series of meetings on the sidelines of this visit," the statement continued, having added that "this visit comes to oversee the security situation and the work of the joints and formations of the ministry in the security and service sides."
