Minister of Interior Othman Al-Ghanimi issued on Monday, directives to the security forces in Kirkuk, while stressing that Kirkuk police forces have an honorable history in fighting ISIS terrorist gangs.
Al-Ghanimi said in a speech, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), during a security meeting held in the province, "We are today in the city of peace, as it represents Iraq with all its sects and components," noting that "Kirkuk is witnessing a great reconstruction processes and its international airport is completed, which is the evidence of security and stability.”
Al-Ghanimi lauded "the efforts of the commander of the headquarters and the efforts of the Kirkuk police chief and all the security formations that have achieved stability and exerting their utmost efforts to serve the citizens of Kirkuk."
Al-Ghanimi directed all parts of the ministry in Kirkuk to follow up in the field and pay great attention to citizens, especially in service departments, and to redouble efforts in combating terrorism and crime in all its various forms," praising "the intelligence effort in Kirkuk and what it achieved in enhancing security and stability."
Al-Ghanimi inaugurated the building of the Directorate of Facilities Protection in the city of Kirkuk.
He also visited the building of the Department of Migration and Displacement and met with the director of the department, Ammar Sabah, and a number of the directorate's cadres, praising "the efforts of its director and his staff in performing their humanitarian tasks."
Al-Ghanimi pledged to work to provide support to them in order to ease the conditions of the IDPs, especially the residents of the destroyed villages, and to facilitate their return to their liberated areas."
