The Security Media Cell confirmed today, Friday, the existence of plans supported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, to strengthen and develop the capabilities of the Army Aviation, Air Force, and Air Defense.
The head of the Security Media Cell, Major General Tahseen Al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Iraqi army ranked fourth in the classification of Arab armies and ranked 45th in the world according to the results of surveys conducted by centers in developed countries confirming that it deserves those ranks.”.
He added, "We seek during the current year to arm the army to meet the challenges, and there is great work towards arming and developing our systems, especially in the field of air defense.".
Al-Khafaji spoke about the development of the Air Force and said: “The Army Air Forces and the Air Force are very important to enhance the capabilities in tracking down terrorism and imposing the will and authority of the country, and by developing the two weapons we can increase the capabilities in the field of surprising the enemy.”.
He stressed that "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, is very supportive of developing capabilities, especially for the Iraqi Air Force, and he previously held a meeting with the Minister of Defense, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, the Chief of Staff of the Army, and a number of other military leaders. Al-Khafaji pointed out that "developing the capabilities of the army and air force aviation requires a high level of funds, infrastructure, and training. We are now proceeding according to what was planned by the higher authorities, and we hope to achieve progress during the current year."
