Iraq and EBRD discuss establishing initiatives to qualify unemployed youth

    Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani met on Tuesday, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, on the sidelines of the Davos 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

    During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen constructive cooperation between Iraq and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, focusing on contributing to the government's development plans, which aim to enhance the private sector, and implement financial and banking reforms for comprehensive economic reform, according to a statement by PM Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    They highlighted "the potential for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to refine its work plan in Iraq in coordination with the Ministry of Planning. This aims to mobilize resources according to government priorities, ensuring stability in public finances."

    They pointed out opportunities for EBRD to support initiatives for qualifying unemployed youth, developing their skills, and preparing them for the job market.

    For her part, Odile Renaud-Basso expressed a sincere desire to collaborate with Iraq in the clean and renewable energy sector as to support the private sector.
