A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan at 5:57 a.m. Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration.
The epicenter of the temblor was located in Yilan's Su'ao Township, 14.2 kilometers south-southeast of Yilan County Hall, at a depth of 47.4 km, the agency's Seismology Center said.
The earthquake's intensity, which gauges the actual effect of a seismic event, was the highest in Yilan, where it measured a 3 on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale.
The quake also measured an intensity of 2 in Hualien County and New Taipei.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
