On Sunday, acting speaker of the House of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, announced that the House of Representatives supports UN mission work in Iraq, while pointing out that the next legislative term will witness the priority laws legislation that affect the need of citizens.
Acting speaker of the House of Representatives Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Acting speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen al-Mandalawi, received in his office on Sunday, the Special Representative of the United Nations Jeanine Plasschaert”, indicating that "during the meeting, they discussed latest developments of the local, regional and international political scene, issues of common interest and the efforts of the House of Representatives in supporting the work of the UN mission and advance the human rights file and the significance of bilateral coordination within this framework".
"The recent provincial council elections and the necessity to begin their work were regarded as an essential positive and constitutional step that confirms the democratic foundations in the country” the statement added.
"The next legislative term will witness the enactment of priority laws that affect citizen's need ,as well as the activation of the oversight aspect of the parliamentary committees "Al-Mandalawi stressed.
