The Security Media Cell (SMC) announced on, Tuesday, that Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) arrested 69 defendants in drug cases and seize various quantities of them.
SMC stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "in addition to the efforts of the National Security Agency in pursuing drug dealers, promoters and transporters, the detachments of the agency managed within (40) days to arrest (69) accused of relying on field and intelligence efforts and in execution of judicial arrest warrants issued against them”.
The statement added that "The arrests took place in the provinces of Baghdad, Anbar, Dhi Qar, Muthanna, Najaf, Basra, Nineveh, Wasit, Qadisiyah, Babylon, holy Karbala and Kirkuk, where about (14) kg of various types of drugs were seized, as well as about (4000) narcotic pills", pointed out "the defendants were handed over with the seizures to the competent judicial authorities to receive their fair punishment in accordance to the law".
