U.S. Geological Survey said that an earthquake measuring 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale hit wedenesday, the central Peruvian province of Huaral.
"The tremor occurred 9 kilometers southeast of the Bakaraos area located in the province, and at a depth of 94.6 kilometers. There were no reports of human or material damage from the tremor," U.S. Geological Survey said.
Its noteworthy that Peru is exposed to at least 400 earthquakes each year, located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a seismic activity point that stretches along the west coast of the American continent.
