Cabinet’s Secretariat General said on Wednesday, that more than 120 schools will be completed by the end of this year under the Iraqi-Chinese agreement.
The Secretariat informed the Iraqi News Agency INA that "The Department of National Projects and School Buildings in the Secretariat General of the Cabinet continues to follow up the stages of work in in the provinces," noting that "school buildings targeted remote areas, villages and countryside to meet the need for schools."
It indicated that "there are weekly meetings with all representatives of the Secretariat General with the two executing companies under the direct supervision and follow-up by the Secretary-General of the Cabinet,” clarifying that “the model school buildings project is one of the most important priority files in the government program and receives attention from the Prime Minister."
The Secretariat confirmed that "the number of buildings for the first phase is a thousand schools distributed among the provinces," signalizing that "the project is one of the first of its kind in Iraq, in terms of designs, engineering details and even building materials used, that the designs of the buildings were implemented by the National Center for Engineering Consultancy in the Ministry of Construction and Housing," pointing out that "the designs are four, and the area of each school ranges from 2500 to 3000 square meters, which is double the traditional schools that were built in Iraq."
The Secretariat General detailed that "each school contains four or five additional halls for laboratory and electronic study, as well as a library and a meeting room," pointing out that "the completion rates vary and there is progress in work, noting that "large percentages of school buildings have reached the stages of external terminations."
It also said that "the number of schools completed so far is 30 schools distributed among the governorates, and (120-128) schools are scheduled to be completed by the end of this year."
