The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, confirmed today, Thursday, that the security and intelligence forces are capable of imposing security and confronting any challenge.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari met with UN Under-Secretary-General Volker Peretz, and the two sides discussed the role of the United Nations mission present in Iraq and joint cooperation between the two parties."

Al-Shammari said, according to the statement, “The security and intelligence forces are constantly developing and are able to impose security and confront any challenge, and the Ministry of Interior is working with all its capabilities to provide services to citizens.”.

He pointed out, "There is great work being done in controlling borders, combating drugs and crime, and respecting human rights.".

For his part, the United Nations representative expressed his happiness at the security stability and satisfaction he saw on the street regarding the services provided to citizens by the Ministry of Interior.
