Interior Minister: The ministry had limitless support from PM to fight drugs

    Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari confirmed on Sunday that the ministry has gained limitless support from Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to fight drugs.
     
    The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari participated today, in the conference held in the city of Erbil under the auspices of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq under the title (Combating narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances)," noting that "the conference included a set of speeches by figures and authorities concerned with fighting this scourge."

    According to the statement, Al-Shammari stressed that "the crime of drugs is one of the most important and dangerous crimes that threaten the entity of the Iraqi state," stressing that it "comes in the priorities of executive officials specialized in the security file in the country."

    He pointed out that "the Ministry of Interior, as the first concerned body to address this major crime, has received limitless support from the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, which prompted us to develop more realistic and ambitious future plans in tackling drugs and psychotropic substances, and to contain their effects and develop the right treatments for them."
