President Abullatif Gamal Rashid stressed on Tuesday, the need to intensify efforts and enhance security in the border areas.
The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “The President of the Republic, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, received, today, at Baghdad Palace, National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji."
The statement added, "During the meeting, the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the region were discussed."
The President pointed out "the need to intensify efforts and enhance security in the border areas," praising "the signing of the joint security agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran."
It stressed "the importance of the agreement in enhancing security and stability," expressing his hope "to sign a joint security agreement with Turkey, and to limit the violations that negatively affect the nature of relations between the two countries."
For his part, Al-Araji provided the President with an extensive explanation of the current and future plans of the National Security Advisory, stressing that “no effort will be spared that would support the internal stability of Iraq and secure the interests and lives of citizens."
