The Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday that a drug dealer was killed after trying to escape in Baghdad.
"A force under the supervision of the commander of the 19th brigade of the 5th Federal Police Division, and in conjunction with the intelligence effort and detachments from the Fahama police station and the Mansour police station managed to kill a drug dealer after chasing him during an escape attempt near Muthanna bridge in Baghdad," said ministry spokesman Brigadier General Mekdad Miri, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"The drug dealer opened fire, injuring an officer, a commissioner and one of the citizens, the matter that led the force carrying out the duty to exchange fire with him and injured him, where he died after being taken to the hospital," he said.
"The accused was in possession of an HS-type pistol, as the case had been referred to the competent authorities to complete the legal procedures," he added.
