The Spanish Real Madrid Academy was opened in Baghdad inside Al-Sha'ab International Stadium complex, in the presence of the Prime Minister's Representative for Sports Affairs, Khaled Kabayan, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, the President of the Football Association, Adnan Darjal, the Vice President of Real Madrid Club, and members of the Spanish Embassy in Baghdad.
"This project enjoys great support from Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani and the Iraqi people in general, and we express our great happiness with this wonderful start," INA reporter quoted the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, during the opening ceremony.
He added, "Cooperation with Real Madrid is a gain for Iraqi sports."
He continued: "These initiatives will be followed by other steps with important international clubs such as Barcelona and Liverpool."
