Baghdad Governorate announced today, Friday, the holding of an expanded meeting to rehabilitate old heritage buildings.
The governorate stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Technical Assistant to the Governor of Baghdad, Haider Wali, and representatives of the Iraqi Banks Association, the Municipality of Baghdad, and the Ministry of Culture, and in the presence of the expert and architect Akram Al-Ugaili, representing the International Excellence Award, to discuss the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the old Baghdad Mutasarrifate building.” And the old Baghdad police station in the Jadid Hassan Pasha neighborhood near Al-Mutanabbi Street.
In addetion to that, "Several architectural destinations were presented for the purpose of reconstructing them in a manner befitting peaceful Baghdad and displaying them in a distinctive style," noting that "the attendees agreed on the necessity of moving forward in order to restore life to these important heritage buildings and to accelerate this, noting that the governorate has communicated with many Local and international bodies for the purpose of maintaining them, and the meeting came under the directives of the Council of Ministers in conjunction with the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Saray Axis.”
