National Security Council discusses establishing chemical testing labs at ports

    INA - BAGHDAD

    The National Security Agents Council held its sixteenth session for the year 2023, headed by National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji and in the presence of members of the Council. It discussed several topics, including establishing laboratories for testing chemical and radiological materials at the ports.

    "The Council discussed the topics on its agenda, and took the necessary decisions and recommendations regarding them, including the topic of (establishing laboratories to test dangerous chemical and radioactive materials at border crossings), and directed that the committee formed for the research topic, in coordination with the Order Committee (23559) in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, unify the ports related to this file," according to a statement by the Media Office of the National Security Advisor, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    The statement included, "The session also witnessed a review of the draft memorandum of understanding (for logistical cooperation and defense industries between the Ministry of Defense in the Republic of Iraq and the Administrative Body of the Defense Acquisitions Program of the Republic of South Korea), and the Council recorded its observations regarding the security aspect of the memorandum of understanding in question, and directed that the previous memorandum of understanding be renewed and included in paragraphs of the current memorandum of understanding, or preparing a new one to be amended in accordance with the observations made in the Council."
