The General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring at the Ministry of Transportation issued on Sunday, the Monthly Seismological Bulletin in Iraq and neighboring regions, indicating that Iraq recorded 12 earthquakes during August.
“Our observatories recorded (19) earthquakes, including (12) within Iraq and neighboring regions, and the other seven in Iran, Turkey, and Syria,” The Director-General of the Authority, Abdul-Azim Al-Saadi, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The director of the seismic monitoring department, Samira Reda Khalaf, explained that "The Bulletin included a detailed explanation of seismic activity in Iraq and neighboring regions and the places of concentration for the month of August 2023," indicating that "its concentration inside Iraq was in (Diyala, Basra, Sulaymaniyah, Maysan)."
