The Chairman of the Border Ports Commission-BPC, Major General Omar Al-Waeli, announced on Sunday, the launching of the Air Cargo Control Unit (ACCU)at Baghdad International Airport.
“ACCU has been opened at Baghdad International Airport, which will contribute to container control and targeting of dangerous global cargo based on an analysis of the risk indicators found in the shipping documents," Al-Waeli told the Iraqi News Agency (INA)." The project is an important step to enhance the security and safety of Iraqi citizens and to achieve sustainable economic development, In addition to the fact that this project represents a proactive step to prevent and combat crime and mitigate emerging threats targeting our country.”
"The project is a step in addressing smuggling and trafficking in drugs and prohibited goods and manipulating the country's economy and societal security," he added.
