Border Ports Commission announced on Tuesday, the arrest of an Iraqi traveler who attempted to bring 150 million dinars into the country.
The Commission said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the Directorate of Al-Qaim Port, jointly with the Customs Center, the Customs Police, and the National Intelligence Service Office, was able to arrest an Iraqi traveler coming from Syria who hid money worth 150 million dinars in a professional manner, and he intended to bring it into the country contrary to the extent permitted in accordance with the law and instructions of the Central Bank and Customs."
The statement added, "This operation was based on strict inspection procedures by the Ports Authority and operating departments to prevent the passage of any materials that violate the law," explaining that "a committee was formed, a proper seizure report was organized, and the accused and the seized items were referred to the Al-Qaim Customs Police Station to take appropriate legal measures."
