The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab, announced on Friday that water imports to Mosul Dam had doubled while noting that the current releases from the Tigris River reach 500 cubic meters per second.
"The Turkish Foreign Minister's recent visit to Iraq witnessed discussion on the water file, which is the first on the agenda of his visit," Diab told the Iraqi News Agency (INA). Noting that " Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani considers the water file a priority.”
“Without the Prime Minister's support for the Ministry, discussions with the Turkish side, whether directly or indirectly, by sending envoys to increase releases, we would not be able to overcome this crisis, "he said.
