The President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Zambry Abdul Kadir, at the Baghdad Palace.
As part of the meeting, Iraq's Foreign Affairs Minister, Fuad Hussein, was present.
The media office of the President of the Republic stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA),"During the meeting, Iraqi and Malaysian bilateral relations were discussed."
President Rashid stressed the importance of strengthening and developing these ties in areas of common interest, in a way that serves both peoples' interests and countries.
The President spoke of Iraq's desire to build good relations with neighboring nations and countries around the world while noting that currently, the government is focusing on consolidating stability, enhancing investment opportunities, and encouraging the private sector to contribute, especially in the areas of infrastructure projects, services, and reconstruction.
Abdul Kadir, Malaysia's Foreign Minister, expressed his pleasure in visiting Baghdad and meeting the President.
In his remarks, Malaysia's FM praised Iraq's progress at various levels. Additionally, he affirmed Malaysia's commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and investment by encouraging businesses, industries, and factories. He also expressed his country's desire to open an embassy in Iraq in the next two months.
