Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi stressed on Tuesday, to the ambassadors of Palestine, Algeria and Turkey to Iraq the importance of activating parliamentary friendship committees.
The media office of the Speaker of Parliament stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi received today, in separate meetings, the Palestinian ambassador Ahmed Aqel, the Algerian ambassador Jihad al-Din Belkas, and the Turkish ambassador Ali Reza Konay."
The statement added, "The meetings discussed bilateral relations, strengthening cooperation between Iraq and its brothers and neighbors in all fields and in a manner that serves the interests of peoples, emphasizing the importance of activating parliamentary friendship committees, and coordinating positions in international forums regarding regional issues."
It explained, "The meetings also discussed developments in the situation in the region, and a number of issues of common interest."
