Rashid stresses the need to take the necessary measures to confront earthquakes

    President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed today, Monday, the importance of strengthening scientific and academic research in various fields, while stressing the need to take the necessary measures to confront earthquakes and mitigate their effects.
     
      The Presidency of the Republic said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, at the Baghdad Palace, the head of the head of Iraqi Geologists Syndicate, Saad Obaid Muhammad, and his accompanying delegation."
     
    The President stressed "the importance of promoting scientific and academic research in various fields to contribute to the development of natural resources, and to benefit from it in state institutions to achieve progress and prosperity," pointing to "the need to face the challenges of water scarcity in the country and work to improve ways of managing groundwater according to a technical plan."
     
    Rashid indicated "the need to take the necessary measures to confront earthquakes and mitigate its effects by take on the technical specifications adopted in construction, and benefiting from the experiences and expertise of countries that are constantly exposed to earthquakes."
     
    For his part, the President of the Geologists Syndicate stressed "the importance of paying attention to the subject of earth science (geology) within the school curricula," referring to "the efforts made to organize the second Arab Geological Conference next November in cooperation with the Union of Arab Geologists."
     
    While the president expressed his wishes for the conference "to achieve its goals and come up with recommendations that contribute to strengthening cooperation between the countries of the region and achieving comprehensive development in the country," stressing his support for "convening the Arab conference in Baghdad."
