Expected bilateral agreements between Iraq and Turkey on the road of development

    The Ministry of Transport announced today, Sunday, the conclusion of prospective bilateral agreements between Iraq and Turkey on the path of development, while Turkey confirmed the start of extending the railway line to be linked to the project.
     
    The Ministry of Transport said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "an Iraqi technical delegation from the Ministry of Transport, headed by the Director General of the General Railway Company, Younis Al-Kaabi, accompanied by a representative of the Italian consulting company, visited the Turkish capital, Ankara, and held important and extensive discussions with officials of the Turkish Ministry of Transport regarding the development path project and its economic importance for Iraq, Turkey, the countries of the region and the world," indicating that "these discussions, which took place in the presence of the representative of the Iraqi embassy in Ankara, Arkan al-Bayati, are scheduled to pave the way for prospective bilateral agreements under the supervision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani."
     
    The ministry pointed out that "the Turkish side confirmed its initiation of rapid action to meet the specifications presented by the Iraqi delegation," noting that "the Iraqi delegation demanded the Turkish side to find a railway network that would be suitable for the model to be implemented by the Iraqi government, as the Turkish side confirmed its initiation to extend railways with a length of 133 km, linking the modern railway line of the Iraqi-Turkish border with the Turkish railways, which guarantees the connection of the great port of Faw to Europe.
     According to the statement "the two sides agreed to define a joint mechanism of action, in addition to exchanging experiences and joint focus on the border link point in the town of Fishkhabour."
