Minister of Justice: Iraq seeks to activate agreements and memorandums of understanding with France

    Minister of Justice Khalid Shwani confirmed today, Monday, that Iraq seeks to activate agreements and memorandums of understanding with France.
     
     
    A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Minister of Justice received the Chargé d'Affairs at the French Embassy, Jean-Christophe, and his accompanying delegation," noting that "the meeting discussed relations of cooperation and joint coordination in the judicial and legal fields."
    The statement added, "The Minister of Justice reviewed the reforms that were carried out during the government's tenure headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, in particular the implementation of the National Plan for Human Rights in accordance with international standards."
    Shawani confirmed, "Iraq's endeavor to strengthen and develop relations with the Republic of France with regard to concluding and activating agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries."
    For his part, the Chargé d'Affaires of the French Embassy appreciated "the efforts made by the Ministry of Justice to achieve great progress in the field of applying human rights standards in the judicial departments," stressing "France's support for the Iraqi government through joint cooperation between the two countries."
