The Ministry of Communications announced on Saturday, that it will remove the ban on Telegram app, starting from tomorrow, Sunday.
"We ask for the attention of dear citizens that the ban will be removed on Telegram app in Iraq, starting from tomorrow, Sunday, based on the directives of the respected Prime Minister, due to the response of the company that owns the application to the requirements of the security authorities by disclosing the leaked citizens' data and showed its full readiness to communicate with the competent authorities and named official channels for it to communicate with Iraq," said the ministry in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
In this regard, the Ministry asserted "it does not stand against freedom of expression, but rather stresses the importance of the commitment of companies that own social media applications to respect the country's laws, security, and user data."
