Electrical connection is the most prominent file of the discussions between Foreign Minister and Secretary-General of GCC

    Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed on Monday, that the doors of Iraq are open to Gulf companies, while the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC), Jassem Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, indicated that the electrical interconnection project with Iraq is ambitious.

    Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said in a joint press conference with the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Jassem Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The doors of Iraq are open to Gulf companies, and that the Iraqi foreign policy is based on developing relations," stressing that "Relations between Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are solid and strong."

    He added that "the electrical connection with the Gulf and Saudi Arabia was a major focus of the discussion," noting that "we encourage the entry of Gulf companies to Iraq."


    Hussein continued, "The current government is working to diversify the economy and provide services, and it has a clear plan to invest in gas," pointing out that "the Iraqi-Gulf forum, which will be held in Sharjah, was discussed."

    For his part, the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf affirmed that "the Gulf Cooperation Council is working to ensure the security and prosperity of Iraq and to strengthen relations, and we need to move forward in consolidating relations between Iraq and the Gulf countries," explaining that "the electrical connection with Iraq is an ambitious project."

    He explained that "there are Gulf plans to link the Iraqi economy," noting that "Iraq plays a major role in managing the regional and international files."
