The US Ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanowski, confirmed on Saturday, that no sanctions have been imposed on any of the Iraqi banks.
"I participated yesterday in a call between the Treasury Ministry and the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) about the recent US measures to restrict 14 Iraqi banks from dollar services after concerns related to money laundering," said Romanowski in a tweet, followed by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
She added, "The CBI took appropriate and prompt measures, as no sanctions were imposed on any of the Iraqi banks."
"We will continue our work to improve compliance with AML / CFT regulations and digitize the Iraqi economy with our partners in CBI," she included.
