The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Sayyed Al-Hakim, called on the international community to take actions against the desecration of the Holy Quran.

Al-Hakim said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We express our strong condemnation of Denmark's permission to repeat the heinous act committed in Sweden when it allowed an extremist anti-Islam and anti-Muslim group to burn a copy of the holy Quran and the Iraqi flag in front of the Iraqi embassy in Copenhagen."

“The insistence of some countries that were previously described as peaceful and democratic in violating the sanctities of the heavenly religions, in clear violation of international laws and norms, especially the UN Charter, which prohibits contempt for religions and beliefs, reflects nothing but a deliberate and extremist movement that intends to undermine international harmony and spread hatred among peoples, which requires caution against its suspicious agendas."

Al-Hakim called, according to the statement, "the International Security Council, the United Nations, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the League of Arab States, and all religious and political actors in the world to take firm positions against these violations that provoke the feelings of two billion Muslims, and by peaceful means that are commensurate with the guidance of the Holy Qur'an."
