The Prime Minister, Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, received this morning, the UK Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Mark Bryson-Richardson, on the occasion of the end of his duties.
“The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries and strengthening joint cooperation in vital sectors prioritized by the Iraqi government. The discussions aimed to boost the economy and improve the investment environment,” stated the Media Office of the Prime Minister in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency-INA.
“The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Britain's support to Iraq across various domains and emphasized the government's desire to expand cooperation further for the benefit of both nations,”
“During the meeting, Al-Sudani addressed the offensive and recurring acts targeting Islam and the Holy Qur'an”, the statement added.
“ He also emphasized the importance of friendly nations taking a stronger stand against such provocative actions that fuel violence, hatred, racism, and extremism. These acts should not be considered within the realm of freedom, and a resolute international position should be taken against them. This stance is rooted in international laws and norms that prohibit insults and attacks on religions, holy texts, and beliefs,” the statement continued.
