Al-Sahhaf said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Swedish ambassador to Iraq, and informed her of Iraq's strong protest against the Swedish government allowing extremists to burn a copy of the Noble Qur'an in the capital, Stockholm, yesterday, Wednesday.".
He added, "The Foreign Ministry calls on the Swedish government to take the necessary measures to stop the repeated insults to the Holy Quran, and affirms that legal justifications and freedom of expression do not justify allowing insults to religious sanctities."
