The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed today, Thursday, that the attack on the Holy Quran stabs freedom of expression at its core.

The President of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We follow with great anger the irresponsible behavior that is being practiced in Sweden, and before it in some countries, in accepting it at one time and justifying it at another time to remain silent about the attacks that affect (the Holy Qur'an), which is the book." Sacred for billions of people on different continents and countries.

He added, "These are attacks and abuses that have nothing to do with freedom of thought and belief. Rather, they stab this freedom to the core, as they are crimes that offend all humanity, such as their offense to the beliefs of Muslims who respect the holy books of all religions, and respect people's right to freedom of thought and belief." We have previously warned of this deviant behavior and alerted us to the dangers of its potential repercussions.

He pointed out, "Assaulting the (Holy Qur'an) is a crime according to which freedom and the right to think and believe are transgressed, and this puts the responsible authorities in the countries that witnessed these attacks in a critical position that completely contradicts their commitment to freedom of thought and faith, and deviates from the laws, legislation and regulations that It guarantees human freedom of faith and respects his rights, and personal freedom should not be exploited in performing unbalanced actions that offend the beliefs of others under the pretext of freedom of opinion and expression.
