The Ministry of Electricity announced Thursday recording the highest load in the history of the national energy system in Iraq, while noting that Iran has expressed its readiness to increase gas releases.
Ministry spokesman Ahmed Musa told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Electricity to Iran resulted in an increase in gas capacity," noting that "the Iranian side is preparing Iraq with 45 million cubic meters of gas, which contributed to increasing the capacity of stations and operating other stations."
Musa added that "the Iranian side expressed its readiness to increase gas releases," noting that "Iraq needs 55-60 million cubic meters of gas, but according to negotiations with the Iranian side, 45 million cubic meters are now available."
He expressed his hope that "this gas processing will continue to keep pace with the peak loads and the operation of stations," pointing out that "there are no gas supplies or transmission lines from other countries, but only the lines of association with the Iranian side that supply Iraq with gas."
He stressed that "the equipping of the system has so far reached 25,280 megawatts," noting that "this load is the highest on the date of the establishment of the energy system in Iraq, where we have helped us with the availability of gas and increase its releases."
