Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker is in ‘advanced talks’ with Bayern Munich ahead of a potential summer switch, according to reports.
The England international has been a key player under Pep Guardiola. But now, it seems his time at the Etihad could be coming to an end.
Walker’s current contract at Man City expires in 2024 and the club have no interest in extending it. So, this summer represents the last chance for the Cityzens to get a decent return for his services.
Since signing for Man City back in 2017, he has made 254 appearances. In the process, he has played his part in an unparalleled period of success in the club’s history.
Walker has helped his team to win five Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups and of course, one Champions League.
Indeed, Man City have just secured a historic treble by beating Inter Milan in the Champions League final. So, the England has won pretty much all there is to win in football during his time at the Etihad.
However, despite still making 39 appearances across all competitions for Man City in 2022/23, he has still fallen down Guardiola’s pecking order somewhat.
In fact, in an interview in April, the manager said that Walker ‘can’t’ play as an inverted wing-back. This has become a key feature of his formations recently.
