The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the announcement of the Libyan joint committee that its members agreed on the laws governing the presidential and parliamentary elections.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: "The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the announcement of the Libyan joint committee mandated by the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State (6 + 6), on Wednesday corresponding to 6/7/2023, in the Moroccan city of Bouznika.
The statement added, "The ministry highly appreciated the role played by the Kingdom of Morocco in order to make this dialogue a success and to reach consensus on the election law, and provided the opportunity for political parties to play a fundamental role in the electoral process.".
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its hope that these consensuses would contribute to advancing the political settlement process in Libya, in a way that serves the hopes and aspirations of the brotherly Libyan people.
