The Saudi ambassador to Baghdad, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, announced today, Sunday, the signing of a contract with Iraq to establish a huge project near Baghdad International Airport.
Al-Shammari said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Iraqi and Saudi relations are witnessing a wonderful stage, and today we started reaping its real fruits through the visit of the King Salman Medical Center team to Baghdad, which is the first specialized and practical visit through which we witness the exchange of experiences between the best skilled doctors in the Kingdom, as well as the best Iraqi doctors, to exchange experiences in fields and subspecialties, which is the first fruit.
He pointed out that "the upcoming meetings will witness economic and cultural meetings, and we promise our Iraqi brothers that the next stage will witness a great momentum in the activities that take place between the two countries, and it will be a distinguished stage for investing in the efforts of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' Al-Sudani and his directives."
The Saudi ambassador revealed "the signing of a contract for a huge investment project of up to one billion dollars in the Rafil area near the airport, which is the (Baghdad Avenue) project," noting that "it will be a distinguished project and a surprise to all Iraqis, and it is the largest mall in Iraq and will include cafes and restaurants with large areas and Commercial offices for major Iraqi companies, in addition to 4,000 apartments and 2,500 villas.
Al-Shammari explained, "The contract was signed between the two countries, and the project will be in addition to Iraq."
