Environment Minister Nizar Amidi confirmed today, Thursday, that the Iraqi government is continuing to implement the plans, programs and projects necessary to confront climate change.
Amidi said in a speech during his participation in the Tenth International Vinsky Conference on Environment and Climate Change in St. Petersburg, Russia, and was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Iraqi government is continuing to implement plans, programs and projects to confront climate changes, and work to integrate the document of national contributions on climate change." Climate, within the national development plans for the year 2023-2028, and the generalization of climate action in all sectors as an important priority.
He stressed, "The interest of the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Environment in activating serious cooperation between the ministry, international organizations and the international community, for participatory work and mutual support to develop plans, programs and strategies to ensure optimal implementation of policies and projects.".
The Minister of Environment, Nizar Amidi, headed the delegation of the Republic of Iraq, which included a high-level parliamentary delegation represented by the participation of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, Majid Shankali, and a number of committee members, in addition to the Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Jassim Al-Falahi, which embodies the ministry's keenness on participatory work and concerted national efforts.
