Government spokesman Basem Al-Awadi announced on Tuesday, that the capital, Baghdad, will host, next Saturday, a conference of transport ministers from neighboring countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
" In line with the Iraqi government's vision of promoting economic integration among regional countries and its commitment to economic reform and advancing strategic projects, our beloved capital Baghdad, will host a conference on Saturday, May 27, 2023. The conference will convene transportation ministers from neighboring countries of Iraq and the member states of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. The primary focus of this conference is to facilitate discussions on the promising Road of Development project also known as the Dry Canal. This project holds immense significance as it serves as a vital transportation route for all countries in the region and the world.,” Al-Awadi stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
“The conference represents a significant step in the government's endeavors to strengthen cooperation and foster economic integration with our neighboring nations and regional partners. It aims to establish a solid foundation for peace, stability, and prosperity for all our peoples. Moreover, this event seeks to consolidate Baghdad's position as the House of Peace—a beacon of security, partnership, and a catalyst for sustainable development, "The statement added.
