Ministerial Council for Economy: Stopping 9 agricultural crops import

    INA - BAGHDAD

    Ministerial Council for Economy decided to stop importing 9 agricultural crops due to their local abundance.

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein chaired the Ministerial Council for Economy session 15 where the PM Deputy, Minister of Planning, the Ministers of Finance, Industry and Agriculture, the Secretary General of the Cabinet and the Chairman of the Commission National Investment, the prime minister's advisors for economic and legal affairs, and the head of the Agent Securities Commission attended the meeting," said the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    During the meeting, they discussed the items on its agenda and took the appropriate decisions in their regard. The council decided, at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture, to stop importing crops; tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, onions, zucchini, eggplant, melons, watermelons and okra; due to the abundance of local production in sufficient quantities to meet the needs of the local market and until further notice.

    The council hosted the general managers of the Rafidain and Al-Rasheed banks and the director general of the administrative department in the National Investment Commission to listen to the obstacles and problems facing the progress of work in the Basmaya project and the borrowing and payment mechanisms for the beneficiaries of this project.

    Al-Sahaf added that "the final accounts of the Republic of Iraq were discussed for the year 2015 and recommended that it must be submitted to the Cabinet."
