Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced on Sunday, that he had received the credentials of ten new ambassadors.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received, at the Ministry's building in Baghdad, copies of the credentials of ten non-resident ambassadors to Iraq, each of: Dominican Republic George Bahsa Hazeem, Republic of Latvia, Joris Boykans, Luis Alfonso de Alba of Mexico, Kingdom of Thailand, Sopark Brungtol, Republic of Ireland, Marianne Bolger, Kingdom of Belgium, Serge Dickschen - Republic of Lithuania Ramūnas Davidonis Republic of Cuba, Alberto Gonzalez Casals,Republic of Vietnam Yeh Long Koc Hoy, Uruguay Nelson Jamil Shaaban."
The minister stressed, while receiving the ambassadors separately, according to the statement, that "Iraq's foreign policy is based on establishing balanced and solid relations based on strengthening political, economic and commercial cooperation, and overcoming differences and tensions in the region through dialogue and convergence."
It pointed out that "joint international and regional cooperation to confront immediate global challenges is a necessity, most notably continuing to combat terrorism and extremism, addressing economic fluctuations and health crises, and confronting severe climate changes that pose a threat to all."
The minister stated: "Iraq is looking forward to achieving a distinguished presence in relations with the countries of the world, and working to develop bilateral relations in areas of common interest," expressing Iraq's endeavor to "coordinate diplomatic positions between friendly countries in issues, and regional and international developments, usually; that Relations are based on geographical proximity as a basis, in addition to the foundations and principles of political positions."
The minister expressed his "wishes to the new ambassadors for success in performing their new duties," expressing "the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide all support to diplomatic missions in a way that enhances friendship and cooperation between Iraq and their countries."
For their part, the ambassadors extended their thanks and appreciation to the minister, expressing their "aspirations to develop relations with Iraq in various fields and in a way that strengthens common ties."
