Oil Minister sets deadline for resuming exports from Kurdistan

    INA-  BAGHDAD

    Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani set on Friday the date for the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan region.

    "The central government has reached the final stages of implementing the agreement with Erbil on the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan region," Abdul Ghani told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), pointing out that "the oil marketing company that took care of the process of receiving and exporting oil from the region is now in the process of signing contracts with companies that buy oil."

    “In the coming days, the resumption of oil exports will be announced,” he noted.

    Earlier, Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani announced the agreement to resume the export of oil in the Kurdistan region, stressing to the direct technical authorities immediately implement the agreement with Erbil.

    Al-Sudani said during a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Masrour Barzani, attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The direct technical authorities should immediately implement the agreement with Erbil and find legal means for this matter."

    He explained that "the agreement confirms the serious and sincere desire of the federal government and the Kurdistan government to face all the problems and obstacles that were inherited years ago and postponed and in which we did not reach solutions."
