PM Al-Sudani receives Secretary of SNSC of Iran

    Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani affirmed on Sunday,  his categorical rejection that the land of Iraq be a place for the presence of armed groups, while he sponsored the signing of a joint security report between Iraq and Iran.

    The media office of the Prime Minister said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani received, today Sunday, Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran and his accompanying delegation.

     During the meeting they discussed the relations between the two countries, the security and political situation throughout the region, and ways to enhance its security and stability.

    Prime Minister affirmed, " Iraq's stance against using Iraqi territories to launch attacks on neighboring countries."

    The progress of the recent understanding agreement concluded between Iran and the Saudi Arabia was reviewed, and Al-Sudani affirmed in this regard, "Iraq welcomes this agreement and its readiness to provide everything that enhances the stability of the region."


    While Shamkhani renewed his thanks for the Iraqi role on this track, he also conveyed the greetings of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi to the Prime Minister, and his affirmation of Iran's desire to develop bilateral relations, for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.

    Under the auspices of the Prime Minister, the two countries signed a security memorandum of understanding. The Iraqi National Security Adviser,  Qasim Al-Araji, and the Secretary of the Supreme Council for Iranian National Security, Ali Shamkhani, signed the memorandum of understanding. It included coordination in protecting the common borders between the two countries and consolidating cooperation in several security fields.
