Rasool: Arresting a network of antiquities smuggling in KRG

    INA - BAGHDAD 

    The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yehia Rasool, announced on Saturday, the arrest of a network for smuggling antiquities in Kurdistan Region - KRG.

    "According to the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in dismantling and chasing organized crime elements and networks, the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, in coordination with the Zinari apparatus of KRG of Iraq, was able to arrest a smuggling network," said the Major General Rasool in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    The antiquities consist of 9 defendants who intended to smuggle antiquities out of Iraq. The arrest took place as they possessed a manuscript more than 3000 years old, according to Rasool, adding that the necessary legal measures have been taken against them.
