MOI : benefiting from the expertise of EUAM in managing major events

    The Ministry of Interior (MOI) confirmed on Monday, benefiting from the expertise of The European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in managing major events.

    The Advisor to MOI for Training Affairs, representing the MOI Major General Ziyad Taha, said in a speech during the symposium on managing major events held in Baghdad and was attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): " MOI through its 100-year career, has possessed human competencies and capabilities and the scientific that enables it to perform its tasks effectively, in proportion to the size of the threats and challenges facing its formations in its various classifications."

    He added, "The ministry was able to prove its high presence in confronting global terrorism, which is represented by the terrorist gangs of ISIS, as the combat formations of the ministry, which include the Federal Police Forces, the Rapid Intervention Squad, the Border Forces Command and the emergency regiments, along with other national military formations and the popular mobilization Forces, were able to defeat terrorism and eliminate terrorism, they must continue operations to dry up the sources of terrorism and eliminate them once and for all."

    He pointed out, "The international support efforts represented by the international coalition, United Nations agencies, and international community organizations played a role in achieving victory and supporting the ministry's efforts to establish societal peace," appreciating "the international support effort provided to the ministry, and the sincere desire of the European Union to provide support to the ministry, through sending the EUAM to reform the security sector since 2017 until now, which provides advisory support to the security and service agencies, by benefiting from the successful security experiences of the Union countries."

    He stressed, "The Ministry of Interior was keen to invest in the expertise available to the mission, despite the available challenges that faced its work for the years 2019 to 2022 in light of the Corona pandemic."
    He pointed out, "The holding of the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup in Iraq is a major security event at the national, international and Arab levels, and it was considered a security challenge that requires the ministry to mobilize all human and logistical energies to make this event a success and reach its desired goals."

    He continued by saying: "It is necessary to refer to the experience of holding the World Cup in Qatar and the outstanding success achieved by the brothers in Qatar, in the good organization and quality of services that were an incentive and inspiration for Iraq in striving for the Gulf Championship to be at the level of the World Cup, and we believe that we have succeeded in that."

    He explained, "During the 25th Gulf Cup tournament, the ministry was keen to benefit from the expertise of the European Union advisory missions with regard to managing major events and adopting the latest methods in protection and security. The mission's advisors attended the tournament in the field and were briefed on the efforts of the security and service agencies during the event Appreciating the efforts of the European Union Advisory Mission."
