The head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Abd al-Wahhab al-Saedi, announced Sunday, the killing of 22 terrorists in a qualitative operation in Anbar, indicating that among the dead were prominent leaders of Daesh terrorist gangs.
Al-Saedi said, during a press conference attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed a qualitative operation in the northern Rutba region in Anbar," noting that "after monitoring the information obtained by the intelligence, the operation was planned."
He pointed out, "The operation took place in two stages, and the transfer of sectors lasted for 6 hours," noting that "the airdrop sectors were trained."
He added, "The area in which the terrorists are located is complex and difficult to reach, in addition to the fact that most of them were wearing explosive belts."
He confirmed, "22 terrorists, including well-known leaders, were killed," pointing to "the continuation of the operation."
In response to a question from the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Saedi stated, "The operation was very secret, and only five leaders knew about it, and the Counter -Terrorism Service and the Intelligence Agency participated in it."
