The Central Bank of Iraq announced, on Saturday, that the current year will witness a significant, remarkable and tangible development for the banking sector.
"The banking sector is witnessing clear reforms that started with reducing foreign transfers, as we are continuing reforms at all levels, and there is reform in the field of electronic payment," said The Deputy Governor of CBI, Ammar Hamad Khalaf, s in a speech during the forum of banking and commercial services for traders and businessmen, which was attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added, "The state generally intends to use ATM and reduce the use of cash in the process of exchanging the banking sector, which suffers from some old problems."
He continued, "CBI has worked on facilities for financing merchants and external transfer of trade, and there is a clear commitment in the Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism," pointing out that " "The banking sector is the main sector in any economic development, and the infrastructure in the financial sector is a fundamental pillar of any economic development and growth."
Khalaf thanked "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani for his continuous support, and meetings with various sectors."
