The Minister of Immigration forms an emergency operations room to evacuate and shelter families in anticipation of any climate crisis

    The Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faiq Jabro, announced today, Monday, the formation of an emergency operations room to evacuate and shelter families in anticipation of any climate crisis.
     The Ministry of Immigration stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Minister of Migration and Displacement chaired an expanded emergency meeting in the ministry in the capital, Baghdad, in the presence of the head of the Kurdistan Region Representative in Baghdad, Faris Issa, and representatives of the relevant ministries, as well as organizations (IOM, UNHCR. UNICEF, WFP, ICRC) in preparation for the ongoing natural disasters that the region is going through and the accompanying destruction and displacement of families.
     
    "The country may be exposed to earthquakes, and floods due to climatic changes, affected by what happened in neighboring countries recently. So the ministry has worked to form an emergency operations room that handles emergency cases that the ministry's care categories are exposed to, in coordination with the ministries and competent authorities. And civil society organizations and relevant international organizations, to provide adequate resources and take the necessary measures to deal with these cases.” Jabro said.
     
    During the meeting, it was decided to prepare an integrated plan that includes three phases (pre-crisis, when it occurs, and the post-crisis phase), based on joint effort, and includes selecting areas for evacuating and sheltering families.
