The National Security Service-INSS announced on Thursday, the arrest of an accused of currency smuggling in possession of 605,000 dollars in Salah al-Din Governorate.
INSS said in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “following the efforts of INSS to pursue dollar smugglers and those who manipulated its prices, the detachments in Salah al-Din governorate were able, based on intelligence information and after obtaining judicial approvals, to arrest a person who was intending to smuggle 605 thousand dollars illegally.”
The statement added, "The accused's statement was duly recorded and referred with the seized items to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures against him in accordance with the law."
